Parents and Guardians of Prospective Members

Bridging Voices is a non-audition chorus for youth 13-21 years of age. “Non-audition” means that everyone is welcomed to join our community. Even if your child is not a confident singer, we still welcome them to join because, at Bridging Voices, everybody contributes their voice. As one of our members explained, “Even if you don’t know music that well, [at Bridging Voices] not only do you get to explore your queer side, but your musical side, as well. When you sing with others, you get to blend your voices together and create a harmony that you can’t do on your own.” In other words, if a youth want to be here, we want them to be here.

Who: Our members range in age from 13-21 years. We have members from more than 40 middle and high schools in 11 districts throughout the greater Portland/Vancouver area, with some coming in from as far as Gresham, Hillsboro, Banks, Wilsonville, and Canby.

When: We meet most Sundays from 4:30-7pm in Southeast Portland.

What: We sing an eclectic variety of music, including pop, rock, folk, classical, anthems, and of course, show tunes. At every rehearsal, a light meal is provided with time for socializing and playing a game, or two. If your child has other interests, there are opportunities to put them to use: set design, costume-making, choreography, make-up, playing a musical instrument, or providing support for performances like designing the concert programs or preparing our performance space.
