Bridging Voices is proud to be the recipient of a grant from The Oregon Community Foundation, approved by OCF’s board of directors on May 5, 2016.
The OCF grant is for year one of two year’s potential support to strengthen our membership, board leadership and fundraising.
The two funds supporting our project are:
- Roy and Diane Marvin Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation
- Jim McBroom and John H. Weston Fine Arts Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation
We are grateful for this generous support which recognizes the importance of the work we do. Our mission statement best describes what we are so committed to achieve.
The Mission of Bridging Voices (the Portland GSA Youth Chorus) is to create a safe, welcoming and accessible place for queer, straight, and questioning youth to experience empowerment and unity through music. Bridging Voices reaches out to queer youth and their families, provides education on queer issues to the greater Portland area, and uplifts the LGBTQ community in Portland and the world.
Bridging Voices aims to break down the foundations of homophobia and transphobia through our diversity and visibility, and by conveying the stories of our lives and desires through the power of music.
