Dear Bridging Voices members and chorus friends,
Bridging Voices is one of a handful of choruses of its kind in the nation. Before the formation of our chorus, Portland had very few arts opportunities specifically aimed at engaging, building confidence, and creating community among queer youth.
Bridging Voices offers hope. We are building a community where youth meet others like themselves, as well as allies who accept and appreciate them for who they are.
We continue to grow as a chorus and as an organization. Rehearsals this year began with seven singers, and now the stage is crowded as we continue to grow. In July, the chorus travelled to the GALA Festival in Denver where 190 North American LGBTQ choruses with over 7,000 singers came together for their summer convention (galachoruses.org). Additionally, we’ve recently incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit charity and had a very busy and fabulous year, as we look to the future.
Lastly, we need your support! You can volunteer, help financially or spread the word to youth and adults alike, that we are a welcoming community and invite LGBTQ and Allied youth to joing our family.
